BCACC’s work in the coming year will continue to be guided by its commitment to supporting members, improving public access to care, and advancing the clinical counselling/psychotherapy profession in British Columbia.

For our members, BCACC will continue to enhance supports, resources, and professional development opportunities to help Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs) thrive in a rapidly evolving environment. This includes practical guidance on emerging practice areas, ongoing clinical and ethical support, and expanded member benefits. Our focus remains on ensuring members feel supported, connected, and well-positioned for the future of practice.

For the public, BCACC will continue to expand access to safe, effective, and timely mental health services. We will build on initiatives that connect individuals to care, reduce stigma, and promote awareness of the role of clinical counsellors/psychotherapists within the healthcare system. Through advocacy and partnerships, BCACC will continue to champion improved access to clinical counselling/psychotherapy services across diverse communities throughout British Columbia.

For the profession, BCACC will continue to play a leadership role in shaping the future of clinical counselling and psychotherapy. This includes advancing recognition of RCCs within the healthcare system, supporting opportunities for expanded roles, and contributing to conversations that strengthen the mental health workforce. Through national and provincial collaboration, BCACC will remain a strong and credible voice for the profession.

As regulation progresses under the Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA), BCACC will remain a constructive and collaborative partner. We will continue to provide members with clear, practical information to support informed decision-making, while advocating for fair, transparent, and accessible pathways into regulation. Drawing on decades of experience, BCACC will continue to contribute to the development of key regulatory frameworks to help ensure a smooth and effective transition for both practitioners and the public.

Through this work, BCACC will continue to strengthen its role as the professional home for clinical counsellors/psychotherapists and a trusted leader in mental health—supporting members, serving the public, and helping to shape a more responsive and accessible system of care.
