Looking towards the future, the BCACC will continue to embark on multiple ongoing initiatives to support its four main strategies and prepare for the eventual separation of its association-related mandate from its public protection mandate.
The BCACC will continue to prepare its members for regulation under the new Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA). The BCACC will do this through the continual sharing of information to help its members gain a better understanding as more details become available from the BC Ministry of Health, including support for licensing by the new Regulatory College of Health and Care Professionals.
On the public protection front, the BCACC will continue to be an integral and contributing partner to the regulatory process for Clinical Counselling with the BC Ministry of Health. The association will leverage its 36 years of experience regulating Registered Clinical Counsellors in BC and work collaboratively with other provincial and national regulatory colleges. Together we will develop and enhance the regulatory building blocks required for the Clinical Counselling/Psychotherapy profession in BC.
The BCACC intends to remain THE premier association for mental health professionals in British Columbia. It will continue to enhance its public service and advocacy efforts, add new member benefits and leverage its partnerships to become the Hub for Clinical Counselling/Psychotherapy in the province.
