Helping people to navigate their mental health concerns
In the past year the BCACC engaged in multiple activities to educate the public on various aspects of mental health and continued with its advocacy for improved public access to mental health services.
Public Referrals
Up to 100,000 members of the public utilize the BCACC’s Find a Counsellor tool annually to secure the services of a Clinical Counselor. Based on the public’s and other stakeholders’ feedback the Find a Counsellor tool continues to be enhanced to improve usability and new features are being added.
Public Support
Providing tools for managing dental anxiety.
The BCACC and the BC Dental Hygienists Association collaborated on the creation of tools and a new website to alleviate anxiety and better prepare the public for their oral care visits.
Municipal Employees Support
The BCACC and the BC Municipal Safety Association collaborated on a pre-emptive (up-stream) program to provide anonymous mental health services to municipal employees by phone.
Public Education
The BCACC’s revamped Matters of the Mind program conducted six workshops with more than 1525 registered attendees on the following topics:
