Message from the President

2021 was another year of adapting

“Leadership is a series of behaviours rather than a role for heroes.”

–  Margaret Wheatly

“2021 was another year of adapting, rising to the occasion, and facing challenges both within the organization and the larger world in which we reside.

Within the organization, we hired an Executive Director, Michael Radano. We created the Joan Campbell Award with the aim of improving access to the profession. We clarified our key strategies as consisting of (1) solidifying BCACC as the hub for Clinical Counselling, (2) preparing members and the organization for regulation, and (3) continually improving our governance and operations. We decided to purchase office space in Victoria and moved to the pre-pandemic rhythm of Board meetings quarterly, with the first in-person meeting of the Board in October 2021. The transition from pandemic restrictions to the easing of these conditions has required much from all of us in the organization.”

Shirley Halliday,
Board President
